CONTENT DISCLAIMER

Reef Futures 2026 is committed to both the tradition of scientific record and the future of global equity. Oral presentation and poster Abstracts may be included in our Traditional Conference Proceedings, creating a permanent academic archive of our work. To further elevate these insights, we may also utilize private AI to synthesize session highlights and "major information" briefings in addition to posting session videos on our CRC YouTube channel. This multi-tiered approach ensures that your research is both formally recorded and easily accessible to managers worldwide.

Content & Publication Consents

[1]. Traditional Conference Proceedings: I consent to the CRC publishing my submitted abstract in the official Reef Futures 2026 Conference Proceedings. This record may be published as a formal and/or digital document (e.g., PDF/Book of Abstracts/Website) and made available to all attendees and the broader scientific community.

[2]. Share & Elevate My Research (Video & AI): I consent to the recording of my presentation being hosted on the CRC YouTube channel. I also acknowledge that the CRC may use secure, private AI tools to assist in creating session-level highlights and "major information" summaries to ensure global accessibility. I understand my data remains private and will not be used to train public AI models.

Reef Futures 2026: Content, AI, & Privacy FAQ

1. Our Mission: Listen. Share. Elevate.

The goal of the Coral Restoration Consortium (CRC) is to ensure that critical reef-saving knowledge is disseminated to the entire global community. We recognize that many researchers and managers—especially those in remote regions or with limited bandwidth—cannot attend in person or stream 200+ hours of video. To ensure equitable access, we provide a multi-tiered approach to sharing knowledge.

2. The Three Pillars of Knowledge Sharing

  • The Formal Proceedings: Every accepted abstract may be published in a traditional, formal "Book of Abstracts" or digital Proceedings document. This would be the permanent academic record of the conference.

  • The CRC YouTube Channel: Following the tradition of previous Reef Futures conferences, full recordings of sessions (slides and audio) will be hosted on the CRC YouTube channel for public viewing.

  • AI-Assisted Highlights: We may use secure, private AI to synthesize "major information" from sessions (abstracts, submissions, and videos) into searchable highlights and briefings. This acts as a "knowledge bridge" to help the community navigate the vast amount of information shared.

3. Privacy & Data Security (The "Private Vault")

Is the AI "learning" from my unpublished data? No. The CRC will utilize a paid Enterprise version of a major AI tool. Unlike free AI tools, this creates a secure, private "vault" for our data.

  • No Public Training: We will use an AI provider that is contractually prohibited from using our conference content, transcripts, or prompts to train its public models.

  • Data Isolation: Your research remains within the CRC’s private organizational boundary and is never "fed" into the general AI pool.

  • Human-in-the-Loop: AI is used for initial synthesis, but every summary undergoes a human review by the CRC technical team to ensure scientific integrity and proper terminology.

4. Public Viewing vs. Private AI

If my video is on YouTube, isn't it public anyway? While the video on the CRC YouTube channel is public for the world to watch, the AI-assisted processing (summarization of submissions and talks) is conducted in a separate, encrypted Enterprise environment. This ensures the synthesis and metadata of your work are handled securely and are not used to train external AI models.

5. Content & Accuracy

What will the AI summaries look like? The AI helps us create Session-Level Highlights. Instead of summarizing every talk individually, we synthesize the major breakthroughs and recurring themes of each 2.5-hour block (8–10 talks). These summaries may include:

  • Thematic Overviews: A "big picture" of the session's impact.

  • Major Information: High-level briefings on core data and findings.

  • Navigation Maps: Timestamps to help viewers jump to specific talks on the channel.

6. Ownership & Rights

Do I still own my Intellectual Property (IP)? Yes. You retain 100% ownership of your research. The CRC treats AI summaries as "derivative highlights"—similar to a session abstract—used solely to help the community find and understand your work.

7. Why this matters for Global Equity

By creating text-based summaries and "major information" briefings, we ensure that:

  1. Low-Bandwidth Access: A manager in a remote marine protected area can download a text summary even if they cannot stream HD video.

  2. Searchability: Your work becomes part of a searchable digital index, making it easier for others to find your specific breakthroughs.

  3. Language Inclusion: Private AI allows us to more easily translate session highlights into multiple languages, breaking down barriers for the global reef community.
